9/24/08 - Grounds for Sculpture - Trenton, NJ

Deja Vu Vous

Adele walks in on artist J. Seward Johnson, Jr.'s "Dejeuner Deja Vu", his recreation of Edouard Manet’s "Dejeuner Sur l’Herbe", translated as "Luncheon on the Grass".

Above, Green & Sky

Inside of the warming hut, the skylight in the center of the dome-shaped ceiling lends a view of the rooftop garden.

Pride is a Peak, not a Place

George Segal's Depression Bread Line, 1991, Bronze, 108 x 148 x 36 inches rests inside of the sculpture wall, found in the center of the park.

9/24/08 - Without Regard? - National Constitution Center - Philadelphia, PA

So I traveled for five hours via five trains (MTA-2,Path, NJ Transit, & Septa), leaving my apartment at 7:30am, to meet Adele (btw-fictitious name by request [?]) at the Constitution Center for her birthday. She having taken, just as many if not more, trains to arrive in Trenton, NJ then deciding to stay...Ironically, I didn't even care to see the center, so took this photo and laid in the grass for 3omins to regroup, before heading back to Trenton to meet her at the sculpture park.

9/20/08 - Five Guy's Burgers - Brooklyn Heights, Bkln, NY

btw- feel free to download any of these blog images (personal use only!) and share with friends or family, sending them as a digital postcard

So I took Adlele's (from previous post) recommendation, "the best deal in the neighborhood", and walked to Five Guy's and got myself a $5 burger (all toppings free [the quarter-inch fresh jalapeno slices being a highlight]), it was most excellent...thanks Adele!

9/20/08 - Adele's Brooklyn Heights Brownstone Building- Bkln, NY

This is Adele's (a warm & friendly one who Phat [my dog] and I met while walking & taking photos) home, one of the studios in this brownstone apartment building. She walked up and asked, "Are you taking photos of that apartment?", my answer, "yes." Second question, "Do you know who lives there?", my next answer, "no." Questions then began to rise in my head, but before they surfaced she eased me with an enthusiastic "Well I do!" and proceeded to jump in (was most welcomed) with some creative direction, "How about the stained glass, it's beautiful!" to "What about the the hanging branch, catching the light there!". From there she helped hold & walk Phat (he was pulling on the leash as I attempted capturing 15th/sec exposures handheld) as I used the tree to stabilize the camera for this shot [always a light traveler, using improvised tripods [inspired by Seth Resnick's mojito tripod] whenever possible). Afterwards, we walked to the promenade and sat watching the sunset (shooting the image with waterfalls [previous post], swirling sky & Statue of Liberty [in background]) while she ate her Five Guy's $5 burger and we discussed art, ideas and ourselves (she as a contract museum builder and my work as image maker). Amazing, the social opportunities that lay within the void of no expectation.

Thanks to Pietro Franesi for hiring me to cover Italian artist Roland Senoner's opening for his exhibition titled "Spe Salvi, I Believe to Want", on Tuesday. Also, thanks to Ariana for coming out last minute to help with shooting video. Above is a photo of the artist standing in front of a multi-media piece, as a patron studies one of Roland's large format graphite drawings of feathers.
