9/20/08 - Adele's Brooklyn Heights Brownstone Building- Bkln, NY

This is Adele's (a warm & friendly one who Phat [my dog] and I met while walking & taking photos) home, one of the studios in this brownstone apartment building. She walked up and asked, "Are you taking photos of that apartment?", my answer, "yes." Second question, "Do you know who lives there?", my next answer, "no." Questions then began to rise in my head, but before they surfaced she eased me with an enthusiastic "Well I do!" and proceeded to jump in (was most welcomed) with some creative direction, "How about the stained glass, it's beautiful!" to "What about the the hanging branch, catching the light there!". From there she helped hold & walk Phat (he was pulling on the leash as I attempted capturing 15th/sec exposures handheld) as I used the tree to stabilize the camera for this shot [always a light traveler, using improvised tripods [inspired by Seth Resnick's mojito tripod] whenever possible). Afterwards, we walked to the promenade and sat watching the sunset (shooting the image with waterfalls [previous post], swirling sky & Statue of Liberty [in background]) while she ate her Five Guy's $5 burger and we discussed art, ideas and ourselves (she as a contract museum builder and my work as image maker). Amazing, the social opportunities that lay within the void of no expectation.
